Few professions are as stressful and as difficult as nursing. It really takes a special person to be able to deal with all the pressures of the day-to-day activities and responsibilities involved with this profession. Unless you are a nurse or close to someone who is you probably do not have any idea what their job is actually like. Think secretary, waitress, doctor, weight lifter, and baby sitter all rolled into one, and honestly that just scrapes the surface.
A Nurses Day to Day
Most nurses work twelve-hour shifts at a minimum and often are required to work longer. All of this time is spend on their feet. They are constantly running in between patients at the doctor’s and patient’s request. In many scenarios, the nurse may have to bathe and feed the patient. The patient could be any size and if they need help getting up it is the nurse’s job to help them. It is easy to forget just how physical of a job working in nursing is.
When most people think of nurses they just think of the person who weighs you when you go to the doctor but in many cases, nurses are doing far more than that. Hospitals would not be able to function without nurses, they carry the whole medical system on their backs. They are the people that handle all the day-to-day functions that affect us the most. They are expected to work till they can barely stand and do it with a smile on their face.
Support for Nurses
As you can imagine being on your feet for twelve hours or more at a time can take a toll on your feet. Nurses must have the correct support to minimize their discomfort as much as possible. There are 2 things every nurse must have a good comfortable pair of non-slip shoes and compression socks. The shoes need to properly support their feet to minimize the damage they are doing to them on these long shifts. The compression sock must be high quality and make a huge difference.
What are Compression Socks
Compression socks are tall socks made of a material that will compress snuggly to your leg. The tight fit helps to prevent swelling and helps to keep your blood from pooling in your legs. Standing all day gives gravity the chance to try and push your blood down into your feet. This can cause swelling and discomfort and even lead to blood clots. This makes owning compression socks a must-have for those twelve-hour days.
If you don’t want your socks to look like they should be being worn by someone in a retirement home, then you should check out Comrad socks for nursing. They offer a wide variety to choose from.
