EICR stands for what?
This EICR Certification stands for eLearnSecurity Certified Incident Responder. When it comes to Incident Management, EICR is the most practical and sophisticated Certification available on the market. Obtaining the EICR Certification proves an Incident Responder’s expertise in the fastest-growing field of network security. An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a report on the state of an electrical installation.
All the electrical circuits in a home are thoroughly inspected, and any possible risks, such as degradation, faults, damage, or non-compliance with current safety requirements, are highlighted.
The landlord or letting/estate agency will receive an EICR certification detailing the safety and general condition of all electrical systems and fittings in a property once the examination is completed.
What does an EIC certification mean?
EIC stands for Electrical Installation Certificate. All new electrical installations require EICs. The spellings ERIC and EICR Certification are erroneous.
Letting Agents and landlords around the UK rely on NSI for EICR Condition Reports.
Does the law require an EICR?
Legally all rental properties must have EICR Certification. The following are the details:
- All properties with new rental agreements must provide valid EICR Certification to all tenants.
- A valid EICR Certification must be available for all current and long-term tenants.
What is the lifespan of an EICR?
Notices should be posted on the fuse board to indicate the next inspection date with an EICR
Generally, an EICR Certification is suggested at least once every ten years for homeowners and is required at least once every five years for private rentals.
Why EICR?
eLearnSecurity Certified Incident Responder certification differs from traditional Certification in several respects, including the following:
On two separate business networks, you’ll be asked to do real-world Incident Response actions instead of answering multiple-choice questions. Each scenario in the Incident Response section is based on real-world events and cutting-edge hacking tactics.
The exam’s events will necessitate many detection and analysis techniques. ELK and Splunk event/log analysis, as well as event correlation, will be necessary. You’ll be a great asset in the business world if you have this skill set.
To receive the EICR Certification, only those who can prove their results in addition to recognising any attacker activity and think outside the box are eligible.
Domains of knowledge
EICR certification can be obtained in the following areas:
- Analysis of network packets and traffic
- Knowledge of technologies like Wireshark, ELK, and Splunk is required.
- SIEM searches that can be put to use
- Correlation of events and logs
- Analysing the course of events
- Anomaly detection and process analysis
Does my house need an EICR for it to be sold?
If you’ve had any “notifiable” electrical work done on your house since 2005, you must have an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).
Obtaining an EICR may reassure a potential buyer that the electrics are safe, and having all of the documentation on hand can speed up the selling process!! To learn more, please visit this page.
An electrical condition report costs how much?
Depending on your area, obtaining an EICR certification might start as low as £150 + VAT. To learn more about EICR certification prices, please visit our site.
We recommend scheduling an EICR with NSI if you are a landlord who wants to ensure that the property you are renting is safe and meets all legal standards.
The Certification Step
Purchase a voucher
A voucher is required to begin the EICR certification process, whether you take the test on your own or after attending one of our approved training sessions.
Voucher holders will be given login credentials to ourEICR certification section, where they may handle all aspects of their certification process, including registering for exams and setting up virtual private networks (VPNs).
Initiate the process of being certified
After 180 days from the date of purchase, regular vouchers expire. Vouchers for Infinity do not have an expiration date.
Begin the certification procedure by clicking on “Begin certification process” before expiration. The expiration date will always be visible in your certification area, and reminder letters will be issued to ensure that you use the voucher before it expires.
Carry out your trials.
A confirmation email will be sent to you immediately after clicking the “Begin certification procedure” button.
Detailed instructions on how to conduct the tests will be included in this mail. As soon as you get the necessary data, you can begin your Incident Response efforts. Make notes as you go, and keep a record of everything you discover and analyse.
For the exam duration, the exam network will be available to you at all times.
If you damage the scenario during testing, you will be the only one on the network and be able to restore it at any moment.
As with any other Hera Lab scenario, you can pause the lab and restart from where you left off by simply pressing the Start/Stop buttons in the Certification section.
Publish your report
Once all occurrences have been dealt with, it’s time to document the detection and analysis processes.
The EICR assessment method does not require a commercial-grade report since the examiners presume familiarity with reporting operations. However, to back up your claims, you’ll have to provide detailed documentation of how you discovered the attacker’s activity.
Your report will be uploaded to the EICR certification process in PDF format when it is available and not more than four days after the beginning of the certification process (step 2).
Get the result
Your report will be thoroughly reviewed by one of our professors. The EICR Certification will be issued if your findings and Incident Response abilities are considered suitable for passing the exam.
If you fail the first time around, the instructor will advise you on where to improve. You can use this information to get a free retake within two days to resubmit your report. The retest will begin as soon as you get the instructor’s feedback or 14 days after you receive it automatically if you don’t see it. After that, the exam lab network will be re-opened for further tests. New reports should be uploaded no later than four days after the retake begins.
You will be able to obtain and verify your digital certificate immediately after passing the exam.
