The Benefits of Buying a Used Replacement Engine

No driver relishes the idea of bringing an otherwise trustworthy car to the mechanic only to find that it’s experienced an unexpected engine failure. Buying a new engine is very expensive, and repairing the old one may set drivers back financially just as much as buying a new car. Don’t despair, though. There’s a better alternative. Read on to find out about the benefits of buying a used replacement engine.

Cost Efficiency

The most obvious benefit of buying a used engine instead of a new car or a brand-new engine is that it’s far more cost-efficient. Depending on the vehicle’s make and model year, the difference can be dramatic. Both mechanically inclined drivers and professionally trained mechanics need to be careful about how they source their engines. It’s always best to buy replacement engines from a reputable source like sircarpart.com than it is to head to a junkyard.

Greater Reliability

Drivers whose immediate response to a blown head gasket or another serious engine problem is to go out and buy another car often find themselves facing more than they bargained for, at least if they buy used, and most people do. If the car with the blown engine is otherwise mechanically sound, it makes little sense to sell it for scrap and buy another used car that could have other equally serious problems.

High-quality used engines are tested to ensure that they are still working as intended and that they will continue to function properly after they’re installed. Not even brand-new engines go through that kind of rigorous testing. Once the replacement engine is in the car, it will go back to performing just like it did before the engine failure.

Protect the Environment

Manufacturing new automotive parts is not an ecologically friendly activity. Though it’s necessary in some cases to mine metal and use energy to fabricate new parts, this isn’t one of them. Buying a used replacement engine is a much more ecologically friendly alternative.

First, buying used prevents an otherwise useful engine from winding up in a landfill. Second, it removes the need for mining new metals to fabricate a new engine. Finally, it also takes far less energy to replace a malfunctioning engine with a used one than it does to manufacture a new one, which means fewer greenhouse gasses are emitted in the process.

Avoid the Hassle of Buying a New Car

Buying a new car isn’t just more expensive than having an engine replaced. It’s also much more of a hassle. Drivers can head to a used car lot to avoid problems like disreputable individual sellers, but that won’t eliminate 100% of their headaches. There are still issues like getting a new registration and making changes to insurance policies to worry about.

Buying a replacement engine is easy. In fact, drivers themselves don’t even need to worry about it. Mechanics can order parts online, wait until they arrive, then install them in the vehicle without ever troubling their clients.

For drivers who want to replace their engines themselves, the process is still very simple. They just need to perform a search by entering some basic information about their vehicles, then request a free quote. Once they’ve found the right engine, the ordering process can be completed online. All that’s left is to wait for the used engine vendor to send the part, then mechanically inclined drivers can complete the replacement on their own time. Good vendors even pay the shipping costs.

Warranty Protections

Worried about reliability? Don’t be. Reputable vendors offer warranty protection on used engines. Most will protect drivers from further expenses related to the part for between one and three years, just like warranties for new cars. The best part is that reputable vendors offer one to three-year warranties for free.

Save a Beloved Car

There’s nothing wrong with having a personal attachment to a vehicle. Many drivers feel attached to their cars and would never consider buying a new one unless they absolutely had to. The problem is, most of them assume that a blown head gasket means it’s game over for that beloved vehicle that’s gotten them where they need to go for years or even decades.

In reality, blown head gaskets and other major engine failures don’t have to mean it’s time to retire an otherwise reliable vehicle that everyone in the family has grown to love. It just means it’s time to talk to mechanics about installing a replacement engine.

A Low-Risk Solution

The problem most drivers have with the idea of replacing their engines is that it seems risky. The good news is, it’s really not. Mechanics should take the time to explain to their clients that used replacement engines are quality tested and come with the same level of warranty protections as new engines. It’s far less risky to have a used engine installed by a professional than it is to try buying a used car online, for example.

Even if something goes wrong, the vehicle owner won’t be on the hook for paying for the additional repairs. If the engine is faulty, the car parts vendor will pay for a new one. If a professional mechanic makes a mistake that leads to future problems, he or she should cover it under a labor warranty. As long as drivers choose a mechanic who provides quality services and sources his or her parts from a reputable vendor, installing a used engine is a very low-risk scenario.

The Bottom Line

Automotive manufacturers love when drivers assume that serious mechanical failures should always be resolved by purchasing a new vehicle. The reality is, though, that most drivers can’t afford to buy new cars. Even high-quality used vehicles are very expensive, as are newly manufactured engines ordered straight from the manufacturer. Buying a used replacement engine is a much more affordable solution that can get cars back on the road fast without forcing drivers to choose between losing a beloved vehicle and breaking the bank on repairs.
