There’s nothing quite like visiting a new country.
But if you’ve never visited Portugal before, you might not realize how beautiful it is. It has everything from mountains to beaches, castles to cobblestone streets, and even a thriving tech scene.
When you visit Portugal, you’ll find yourself surrounded by stunning scenery, delicious food, friendly locals, and great real estate deals.
In fact, Portugal is home to over 100,000 ex-pats who live here year-round (and the number is growing)
And with its low cost of living, high quality of life, and affordable housing prices (outside of the biggest cities), it’s no wonder why so many people choose to make Portugal their permanent residence.
Those were all reasons I already read around the web about Portugal being so trendy right now.
And even though it never came to my mind to live in Portugal, the truth is that after visiting the country for the first time, I decided to stay in it.
The main reason? Portugal real estate opportunities
The main reasons why I’ve decided to invest in Portugal’s Real Estate
Even though traveling makes up most of my time (and income) right now, before being a traveler, I’m a real estate professional always on the look for new opportunities.
And while traveling, I’m still interested in some properties wherever I go. To put it in simple terms, travel is my hobby, and real estate is my ultimate passion (and profession).
I’m going to tell you my story of how I became interested in investing in real estate in Portugal.
It was back in 2019 when I first traveled to Portugal and so first heard about real estate investments there being made by some major international retailers. But I’ve contacted local real estate companies specializing in the Portuguese market to understand better what was going on. The first firm was Goldcrest, which completely showed me the status of the real estate sector at that time, but also pointed to the coming progress and increasing interest by foreigners in Portugal.
I then came across a few websites offering luxury apartments in Portugal for sale at very reasonable prices. Some of them were more than half cheaper than what I was paying in Spain!
At first, I thought they were just trying to scam me as an investor. But after reading more information about Portugal, I realized that these properties were actually available for purchase.
Recent Economy Context
Portugal has been one of the most popular destinations for tourists for the last couple of years.
But, in recent years, the country has become an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.
So I decided to visit Portugal once again to learn more about its economy and real estate markets.
After visiting several cities and towns, I found myself falling in love with the place.
I fell in love with the culture, food, climate, and everything else about the country.
That’s when I knew I had to invest in Portugal Real Estate.
Now let me share with you five reasons why I think you should too.
1. Low Cost of Living
First of all, living in Portugal is extremely affordable compared to other European countries. And that’s especially true if you can live outside of the biggest cities like Lisbon, Porto, Braga, and Faro.
The average monthly rent costs $400-$500 or even less in other cities.
This means that you can easily save thousands of dollars every month without sacrificing your quality of life.
2. Strong Economy
The Portuguese economy is doing really well right now.
According to the World Bank, Portugal’s GDP grew by 4.9% last year.
This is among one of the highest rates in EU member states.
Furthermore, the unemployment rate in Portugal is currently below 10%.
This shows that the economy is growing steadily.
3. EU member state
As a member of the EU and also part of the Eurozone, it uses the same currency as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and others.
And gives you access to the Schengen area if you make property investments that happen to be eligible for residence permits (through its golden visa program).
4. Property Varieties
If you want to invest in real estate in Portugal, there are many options.
You could buy residential properties, commercial properties, vacation rentals, hotels, and much more.
5. Beautiful Landscapes
Fourth, Portugal offers amazing landscapes.
From mountains to beaches, forests to lakes, there are plenty of places to explore.
When you travel to these areas, you’ll feel like you’re in paradise. And there’s always a property or two for sale nearby
6. Friendly People
Finally, the Portuguese people are friendly and welcoming.
Many foreigners come here to study English, and they often return to teach English to locals.
These interactions between foreigners and locals are common in Portugal.
Overall, I believe that Portugal is a great place to live.
If you decide to invest in Portugal Real Estate, I hope you’ll fall in love with the country just like I did.
In conclusion, Portugal has become a hot destination for ex-pats from around the globe. With its beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and affordable prices, it’s easy to see why so many people are choosing to call this country home.
But did you know that Portugal offers plenty of real estate opportunities for investors too?
From property investment to tourism, there are countless ways to turn a profit here.
So whether you want to live in paradise while investing in real estate or you’re looking to diversify your portfolio, Portugal is definitely worth checking out.
