Low Impact Exercise & Its Many Benefits For Your Body

If you have decided to address your fitness issues as well as the many excess kilograms that you are carrying, then you are to be commended for this very important life decision. The pandemic has brought to the forefront that staying in shape and not carrying around excess weight is conducive to a more healthy lifestyle and it will help to strengthen your immune system as well. The thing about starting a new exercise routine is that if you haven’t exercised in some time then you may injure yourself if you begin too strongly. Moderation is the key and so you need to start off slowly and try to do low-impact exercises to help protect your body from injury. Experiencing an injury can put you back two to three weeks and by that point, you may have lost your motivation.

This is why you need to do your research into low-impact exercises and doing things like swimming, some weight training, and jumping on your upright bike are three great ways to get into shape and burn those excess calories. It is crucial that you do low-impact workouts at the beginning of your new healthy lifestyle for the following reasons.

    1. It reduces injuries – It is incredibly important that you do not experience any kind of injury at the beginning of your new lifestyle because it will de-motivate you and it may be difficult to get you to begin again. By just taking part in low-impact exercises, you can strengthen your body’s core so that in 2 to 3 months from now, you can start moving up and enjoying exercise outside like running.
    2. Fewer rest days – If you begin your new exercise routine by doing high-impact exercises then it’s going to take you longer to recover from them. The secret is, to begin with, low-impact routines that will allow you to not have to take as many rest days to get your body feeling better again and ready to try the next activity.
    3. Better stability and balance – If you jump on your upright bike every single day then the fact that it is stationary will help you with your stability and with your balance as well. If you haven’t exercised in some time since your last vacation away with family and you start jogging almost immediately, you might experience some issues with your balance and you could end up hurting yourself.
    4. It improves your technique – By taking your time and doing low-impact exercises, you spend a lot more time working on your overall technique which leads to better long-term results. If you don’t improve upon your technique then you could be causing problems with your joints and tendons.

By engaging in low-impact exercises, you are improving upon your overall flexibility and overall body strength. Range of motion is incredibly important as it helps you to reduce injuries and it also helps to increase your heart rate as well. By starting off with an upright bike and then going from there, your fitness levels will begin to rise.
