Anybody who has had Eczema will tell you that it is one of the most distressing things. It is quite uncomfortable. But what exactly is Eczema? Well, it is a skin condition that causes dry, scaly, and itchy skin. In worse cases, Eczema can leave your skin scarred.

However, much as this is a known condition, it does not have a cure. Discouraged already? Don’t be. Why? Well, you will find plenty of treatments that can address Eczema scarring. Here, we will explore some of the best treatments that will help reduce its symptoms.

Do not scratch

One of the simplest, yet effective remedies that can help you to heal from Eczema scars is to avoid scratching your skin. Usually, Eczema irritates the skin, which may make it crack. And when your skin cracks, the irritation will intensify, making your skin very itchy.

When you result in scratching, you will not only increase scarring but also damage your skin.

So, what can you do to avoid scratching itchy skin? You can moisturize your skin.

Castor oil

Castor oil has a lot of uses, among them healing Eczema scars. Castor oil is rich in essential fatty acids, which get easily absorbed into your skin. Besides, castor oil works excellently when it comes to healing scars. How so? It promotes the production of elastin and collagen, plus it can break down internal and external tissue damage.

For it to work effectively, you need to apply it to your Eczema scarring for about 4 minutes before you sleep.

Oatmeal baths

Besides including it in your breakfast, oatmeal works effectively in healing Eczema scars. How so? Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants. They can reduce skin irritation and inflammation. Better yet, they can rejuvenate your skin.

Additionally, oatmeal is used as an exfoliant to moisturize the skin, minimize scarring, and to get rid of dead skin cells. To get rid of scarring resulting from Eczema, you should soak yourself in an oatmeal bath for approximately 3 minutes daily. Alternatively, you can buy some oatmeal-based lotion to apply to your skin.

Apple cider vinegar

If you want to heal your Eczema scars, you can use some apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has plenty of beneficial uses. For starters, it has antibiotic and antiseptic properties. It also contains vitamins and nutrients that help regenerate skin cells.

As if that’s not enough, you can also use it as an exfoliant. It’s useful when it comes to getting rid of dead skin cells. It also encourages the growth of healthy skin.

To treat your Eczema scars, you need to dilute a little amount of apple cider vinegar in water. Afterward, you should apply the solution to the scarred area, and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Next, wash it off with water. Make sure to carry out this treatment every day for effective results. Alternatively, you can dilute apple cider vinegar in your bathwater.

Honey

Honey is not only sweet. It also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. However, not every type of honey will help heal your scars. According to studies, Manuka honey is the best for healing because it is super high in antibacterial properties. You could use it to treat wound infections.

As for treating Eczema scars, you need to apply it directly to the affected areas. Furthermore, you can mix Manuka honey with sugar and use it as a scrub. For the best results, you need to repeat the procedure(s) daily. However, if your scarring worsens, you should consult your doctor.

Lemon juice

Sometimes, Eczema can leave red or dark parts on your skin. In such a case, you should use lemon juice to brighten the affected areas. Why lemon juice? Well, it contains vitamin C, which stimulates the production of new skin cells. The high acidity of lemon helps with the skin lightening.

To treat Eczema scars, you should apply fresh lemon juice on them twice a day. When you apply the juice, make sure to leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes. You can also mix one-part sugar and one-part lemon juice for skin exfoliation. This remedy should be done several times a week before you go to bed.

Conclusion

Eczema is a skin condition that makes you very uncomfortable because it irritates your skin. Although it doesn’t have a cure, there are plenty of remedies that you can use to heal your scarring. We’ve listed some of the most effective ones here. However, if your scarring persists, we recommend visiting your doctor for treatment.
