Where perfection is the only demand, it can be harder to prove your worth. And no other cutoff demands perfection more than the Delhi University Cutoff. When a cutoff starts at 99% and ends at 98%, it can surely be too intimidating a challenge to mount. But it is not impossible. There is a strategy to crack even the toughest of entrances, and Delhi University’s cutoff is no different.

The Delhi University releases a cutoff list each year as an invitation to applications from 12th standard pass-outs. Out of the approximately 5,50,000 applications it received last year, only 68554 got admission in 64 colleges affiliated with Delhi University. As the cut-off increases, each year so does the no. of applications. The number of students who applied in 2020 is twice as much as compared to 2015 when only 3,20,799 completed applications were received by the university.

Cracking the prestigious Delhi University cut-off is a chance for students to enroll in some of the best and foremost institutions of India. A degree from Delhi University opens up many doors for students to have a prosperous future ahead. Before we move ahead, there are certain highlights that aspirants must be aware of. Some important key points to keep in mind are mentioned below:

  • The Delhi University cutoff is based on the best of four main subjects of the 12th standard.
  • The DU cut-off covers 68554 seats across 64 colleges.
  • The admission of eligible candidates is based totally on merit.
  • Initially, the colleges release the DU cutoff list on their respective portals, which is later consolidated into a single cutoff list.
  • The DU cut-off varies as per the college and course opted by the students.
  • While preparing for 12th standard exams, it should be noted that cut-off differs for reserved and unreserved categories.

Crucial Tips on how to crack the Delhi University Cut Off, List

  1. Focus on your average

While studying, make sure you have at least two subjects that you know you are 100% confident in, and two subjects where there lies a margin of error. Then, make sure you have split your time in a fashion that prioritizes your 100% confident subjects. To achieve a score as high as 99%, you need perfect marks in at least two papers, hence, sealing them in before you even enter the exam is a great strategy. A day before your paper, make sure you are on par with your “not so confident” subjects. The best thing about boards is that you get 4 chances to correct the course.

  1. Stay aware of all the cut off lists

The cutoffs differ for each and every subject in each and every college. Noting down all of these distinctions can be hard, but it is necessary. By taking a frame from last year’s results, you can prepare yourself for a ballpark figure. For example, the expected 2021 General cut-off for the BA course in Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College is 92% – 95%. Whereas, the same course in Miranda House will require a cut-off of 97% – 99%. Being in the same umbrella does not mean the cut-offs are the same, and it is essential that aspirants narrow down their top choices and stay updated with their expected cut-offs.

  1. Keep your application prepared

Keeping an application handy with dotted Is and crossed Ts is incredibly important. Every college requires the submission of applications soon after the cut-off lists are released. Not only does this help in applying to different portfolios but it also calms the nerves. You must also be ready with all of your 12th residuals, as granted by the school.

  1. Practice your interview skills

Filtering through the cut-off list is a battle half won. There are tons of steps that stand between you and the DU. One of them is a college interview. Reputed colleges from Delhi University require an interview stage before final selection. Oftentimes those who qualify for the first stage are rejected at stage two. The best way to perfect your interview skills is to read about the college and frame your answers in a way that supports the vision of the university. You can also practice in front of a mirror and track your expressions. Remember, college faculties can smell the fear, and no one wants to move ahead with shaky candidates. That’s why you must be confident throughout the interview.

  1. Keep an eye out for all the lists

The 10 cut-off lists are released in a sequence of one at a time. The first list is released in the last week of June, and the final list is released somewhere near September. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the admission process and cut-off lists have been delayed. The first cutoff list of DU for admission in 2021 will be released by October 1, 2021. However, St. Stephen’s College has released its first cutoff on September 3, 2021. The unclaimed seats from each list are passed on to the following list. Many times, students with eligible marks who couldn’t make it to list #1 claim a spot in the following list. It is essential to keep tabs on the release and retraction of each list and apply accordingly.

  1. Don’t give up on your dream

Thousands of eligible students fail to crack the cut-off list due to sheer competition and it may feel like a year’s worth of hard work has amounted to nothing. But a loser attitude is not healthy when you are preparing to be a part of such an iconic and impactful university. While you are advised to stay real to the circumstances, don’t give up before you have exhausted all your options.

When it comes to Delhi University cutoffs, the stakes cannot be higher – and neither can be the competition. The preparation of cracking the cut-off must begin with the school year and continue till the very final cut-off list has been released. Work hard and stay updated.
