Mailers continue to be one of the most effective ways to reach customers of all ages and backgrounds. While emails may land in a spam folder, snail mail is getting lighter and people instantly notice a letter in their hands. Discover some of the different ways to use mailers to reach out to new customers and increase profits.

Understand the Target Audience

One of the smartest steps to take before using mailers to find new customers is researching the target audience. Find out who wants the types of products and services offered by the company, then create a mailing list for this target audience. Knowing more about potential customers helps the company hone its offerings and marketing campaigns to answer questions and resonate with them in a meaningful way. 

Be Colorful 

To reach new customers, be creative and bold with color. For branding, use variations of the company’s usual colors in logos and promotional materials. Make the hues bold and eye-catching to grab the recipient’s attention. Include artwork and slogans that make the customer want to open the envelope and read more. If you are using postcards, splashes of color prevent them from g getting lost in a pile of mail.

Offer Samples

Businesses can also use direct mail to send samples to potential customers to get them to try the product before they buy it. Often customers discover they like the item and want to buy it themselves. Offering a sample is a great way to get people to know more about your products and buy them in the future. Also, people may share the samples, which spreads the word even further.

Give Out Coupons and Discounts

Another effective strategy to get people to take action is by offering coupons and discounts. Make sure to offer limited time offers to get people to take action now. Leaving the coupons open-ended often means they are kept tucked in a drawer for years without being used. Setting a time limit creates a feeling of urgency and gets recipients to take action today rather than putting it off until tomorrow – or never.

Give Them What They Want

Another way to attract new customers is understanding exactly what people in the area want. Are there current global or economic concerns your company can address through the use of its products or services? Answering these crucial questions in a mailing helps people understand how they can benefit from working with your business. Communicate the opportunities that exist for them when they reach out to your business. Offering to give customers what they want is the best way to bring them into your company and keep them coming back for more.

Bring in a Friend

Finally, maximize your mailings by offering to give a discount to a recipient who shares the coupons or opportunities with a friend. Also offer a discount to the friend who decides to visit the company or make a purchase. By providing these discounts, you attract new customers to the business and encourage them to be loyal.

Mailings are an excellent way to find new customers and bring them into your company. By offering samples and discounts, you can get people to take action right away. Use these tips to create mailers that resonate with recipients and make them want to do business with your company today.
