Designing or renovating your home is a dream come true for many of us since it gives us the opportunity of applying all of our preferences, specifications, and requirements to our home in a way where we are able to achieve the home of our dreams. Usually, the most important question is: what color scheme do you want? You can choose different color palettes for different rooms of the house but it is usually a good idea to stick to a common theme across all the rooms so that there is cohesion and harmony as you go from one room to the other.
When you think about different trending interior design styles, the minimalist theme is gaining popularity all over the world. But it usually features a white color palette or very light or pastel tones which we all have to agree gets a bit boring and dull.
So why don’t you spice things up and use a completely unexpected color in the minimalist design theme? And the color we are thinking about is none other than black!
Black holds its own charm and elegance and when we incorporate it into a minimalist design, the result will leave you awestruck. Black color can be used to create a magical and dreamy space. And don’t be skeptical about it being too composed and not being comfortable or cozy enough. We will give you examples from a home designed by Space Factor where they have utilized a black monochrome theme in a minimalist design in such a way that it creates a magical and cozy home.
The bedroom is also dominated by the monochrome tones where you can see different shades of gray and black. The headboard and side tables of the bed feature wooden texture and a darker shade. The bed linen is kept white to contrast the darker shades but the pillows, cushions, and the bed throw are all in shades of gray to complete the monochrome look. The curtains are also black but the windows are huge so that lots of sunlight flows in and freshens up the space. Even the walls are gray but surprisingly, the overall effect is not that of a dull one. The soft and plush bed linen and a white vase with white flowers make the ambiance much more cozy and welcoming.
The bathroom is also adorned in the same monochromatic tones with glass partitions and marble tiles. Frosted glass windows create a modern effect while still allowing sunlight to flow through in an otherwise dark space.
The lounge is an epitome of simplicity and elegance. Again the different shades of gray are sprawled across the room with the floor being a light shade of wood to bring cohesion and harmony in the space. This kind of color scheme works the best if white light is used as seen in the picture below but even warm lighting will look good here and create a more dramatic effect.
The feature wall has vertical panels which also hides a door that leads to the next room. This creates a mysterious attraction that helps elevate the room’s appearance further up a few notches.
The dining area and kitchen also feature the same gray tones in an open concept layout. This helps to create a spacious look that otherwise would have looked cramped because of the darker shades. A decorative shelf creates a perfect contrast to the design with warm spotlights and elegant decorative pieces. The dining table and chairs are kept simple and minimalist adding to the room’s sophistication and elegance.
For the bathroom, you can either choose the same darker theme as discussed above or you can choose a lighter color theme for the bathroom’s interior. As an example, consider the following bathroom image where the walls and floors are in a lighter shade of gray but the black fixtures create just the amount of dark tone needed to complete the look.
All these above-mentioned ideas from the Space Factor portfolio can serve as an inspiration to create a magical, comfortable, and cozy ambiance in your monochrome black interior home. Whether you decide to copy all the ideas as they are or choose to select just a few of them, the end result will definitely be one where everyone will find you strikingly beautiful and elegant.
