This guide will dive into what you should be doing to prepare for Phase 2 of the wow Season of Discovery. Whether you are a seasoned WoW classic player or a new face, these tips and tricks will help you get smoothly into the new content. But don’t rush, each of these steps is specifically designed to be enjoyable for those who like getting ready.
Phase 2 Release Date
As we near the world-shaking launch of Phase 2 of WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery (SoD), players are hyped to continue their journey through Azeroth. Set in the Classic timeline for 2024, SoD is set to release sometime this Winter, after the Ruby Sanctum Raid for WoW Classic WotLK on January 11th, 2023.
Phase 2 New Content
Although the specifics of SoD Phase 2 have been kept under wraps by Blizzard, a few tantalizing details have slipped through:
Level Cap Increase:
Players will be able to push their adventurers higher than ever before with the level cap rising up to 40.
Gnomeregan Raid Instance:
The mechanical dungeon Gnomeregan will transform into a full-on raid instance in this next phase – and its loot will be nothing short of amazing. One item that stands out is the Automatic Crowd Pummeler.
New Runes:
As you continue your journey through Azeroth in SoD Phase 2, be on the lookout for new runes. They’ll unlock brand-new magical possibilities and offer players an opportunity to try out new builds.
Professions Level Cap Rise:
The cap on profession levels may be raised to level 225 (Expert) so crafters and gatherers should start leveling up now.
Stranglethorn Fishing Tournament:
Competitive anglers, rejoice! The Stranglethorn Fishing Tournament will begin as soon as SoD Phase 2 launches. You’ll be able to pit your skills against fellow fishermen as you seek some pretty cool rewards.
Level Your Professions
First, you will have to decide which professions are best for your class and playstyle. For example, tailoring can be useful for Warlocks because they can craft some best-in-slot items from this profession. In an ideal world, you should push your chosen tradeskills (and secondary skills such as cooking, first aid, and fishing) up to level 150 which is the highest available level during phase 1.
Save Gold for Mount
In phase 2 mounts will become cheaper so try to have around 50-60 gold saved up. This is especially important for classes that do not have access to free mounts at this point yet. Remember that wow sod gold is mostly meant to buy a mount instead of being wasted on the auction house.
Gear Up Wisely
While gear from Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) and other similar dungeons is nice, there will be better gear options come the patch 2.0.3 release date. However good gear overall can make your questing and dungeon run smoother.
Collect Flight Paths
Get flight paths in the new regions, especially those between levels 40 and 60 finished before hand so that when it comes time to travel you can do it faster.
Advance Your PvP Rank
A minimum rank of 3 should be attained by all players involved with Season of Discovery PvP since there is no rank decay in place at this time allowing them access to better gear as well as giving them a head start over others going into the next stage.
Acquire Class Runes
Try to acquire all 12 runes specific to your class. These will level with you and become more valuable as you do so. By getting them early on they can save a lot of time and effort later on.
Boost Your Reputation
You may need higher reputation levels for some of the above-mentioned runes. Expect future requirements to at least Honored status with relevant factions.
Level Alts
If you have extra time, then level alternate characters to 25 and repeat the earlier steps. It makes the game more diverse and interesting.
Bonus Tips
BG Teleports:
Use Battleground (BG) teleports for quick travel across zones. Coordinate with friends or guild members for efficient transportation.
Hearthstone Batching:
Utilize Hearthstone batching for maximum travel efficiency. This technique requires precise timing but can significantly reduce travel time.
Stock Up on Seasonal Items:
During events like Winter’s Veil, gather items like mistletoe and snowballs. These can be valuable for buffs or sold for profit later.
Use Logout Skips:
Learn logout skips, like the BFD logout skips, to avoid PvP confrontations and save time entering dungeons.
Final Thoughts
Making your life as easy as possible in WoW Classic Phase 2 is key here. Follow these steps to make sure this transition from old content to new is seamless and fun.
