Do you want to make a soy wax candle added with fragrance but don’t know the temperature limit? Then this article might help you.

In this article, we’ll let you know what temperature to add fragrance to soy wax to make the perfect candle. You’ll also learn how much fragrance you can add to build a candle for your perfect dinner.

Let’s get started.

What Temperature Should You Add Fragrance to Soy Candle Wax?

It is critical to understand that what temperature to add fragrance to soy wax. You can’t simply be melting the soy wax and pour your favorite scent, such as Louis Vuitton California dream into it.

Hence, it’s crucial to acquire the correct fragrance oils for soy wax and determine when to apply the scent towards the soy wax.

Here is an overview of different types of soy wax and their temperature rules:

Soy Candle Wax:

Applying fragrance to soy candle wax is dependent on the type of wax and the brand.

While using 100 percent soy wax, you should heat your soy candle wax to 175 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit before adding your perfume oil.

Make sure that the oil and wax blend effectively. If the temperature is low, the fragrance will not mix properly with the wax. On the other hand, if you overheat your soy wax, it may discolor. It may also affect the soy candle to burn poorly.

Soy Tart Mix:

Regarding soy candles, soy tower, and soy tart wax mixes, melt your wax to 195 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Afterward, cool it to 180-185 degrees before adding your fragrance oil. The soy wax is then typically poured into the molds at 160 to 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hard Wax:

Soy pillar/tart/votive wax has natural ingredients that harden the wax, allowing it to stand on its own like pillars candles. That’s why the wax must have melted at a high temp.

How to Add Fragrance to Candle?

The amount you use depends on your liking and the texture of the oil. A few fragrances are more potent than others.

It’s a fair basic rule to begin at about 6% or 1 oz. of fragrance every 16 oz./1 pounds of wax.

The scent load recommended by most wax producers is 6-8 percent, with a maximum of 10-12 percent.

Citrus and Herbal Oils:

Citrus and certain herbal oils, specifically these produced largely of oils, get a softer viscosity and may burn off soon, or the scent itself may scent “wrong.” Using those oils at a low temp and mixing with a greater oil are two options.

Vanilla:

Because of their high density, most scents containing vanilla will be simpler to work effectively. Use candle-making oils rather than fragrance or perfume, including combustible components such as alcohol and Dipropylene glycol.

Tips to follow:

To guarantee that the wax molecules are entirely grown, warm the wax to a greater temperature than the melted point.

Every scent molecule will be enclosed entirely and contained inside the wax in this manner. Most perfumes should be applied between 175 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit.

Before applying fragrant oils, ensure your wax has just been extracted from the source of heat.

How much fragrance oil should I use when making candles?

The waxes we sell include various levels of scent. It can be anything between 0.5 to 2 oz. per pound of the fragrance of beeswax.

However,  Pillar waxes and paraffin votives typically carry no more than 1 oz. of fragrance per pound. Still, waxes in single-pour paraffin containers may typically hold up to 1.5 oz.s per pound of fragrance.

For soy candles, the quantity per pound of wax of fragrance will range between 1 and 2 oz. Because only the wax can take a particular quantity of fragrance oil, be sure you don’t exceed the suggested amount.

Conclusion

Preparing a candle with the right amount of fragrance is tricky. However, it could be much easier for you if you know what temperature to add fragrance to soy wax.

Refer to the previous discussion – it is suggested to add perfume to your wax at 185°F. That’s the ideal temperature for such perfume and wax to attach.
