Acne is a condition where oil, dust, dead cells, and bacteria settle deep into the hair follicle causing whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. It affects mostly the facial, back, and chest region.

This skin condition is commonly associated with teenagers. However, acne can affect anyone irrespective of age. You need to treat your acne properly or the chances of permanent scarring are higher.

Acne is dreadful because even after the acne is cured, the scars remain. It deteriorates the looks of a person and leaves them to feel insecure and ugly about themselves. Severe acne can also lead to anxiety, loss of self-confidence, and depression.

Expert dermatologists who conduct laser treatment for acne scars in Pune say that there are various laser treatments that a person can undergo to cure the acne scars permanently.

Laser treatment

Laser treatment is done by a very narrow laser that concentrates on the hemoglobin cells vaporizing them to a required level to break down the unwanted tissues. The best part is the laser beam can only affect certain particles like the hemoglobin cells. So this type of treatment will not damage any nearby cells.

Laser treatment can be used to cure acne and acne scars, reduce the melanin level and pigmentation thereby producing lighter skin tone, you can also remove unwanted permanent tattoos through laser treatment.

Below are some of the treatments that are recommended by dermatologists who do laser treatment for acne scars in Pune.

  1. Fractional resurfacing

This treatment is done with the aid of a CO2 laser. After this treatment, you can have flawless skin with enhanced texture.

Your skin tissues have tiny columns in them which causes the acne scar. Fractional resurfacing laser treatment will vaporize these columns and remove the scars. The healing process takes about one to two weeks accompanied by the peeling of the skin.

Depending upon the level of your skin damage, this treatment is done once or twice. Remember that you should not go out or stress yourself for at least two weeks.

The results of this treatment are astonishing and you will see the full-fledged result only after 6 months since the collagen keeps developing on the skin even after the treatment.

  • Vascular lasers or intense pulse light

This treatment is done only when a person has red spots on their face that is about to become a permanent scar. Intense pulse light treatment damages the red vessels and brings out more uniformity. This light treatment also reduces the probability of permanent scarring.

  • Nonablative treatment

This treatment usually increases the production of collagen by vaporizing the tiny columns in the tissues. This type of treatment does not affect deep into your skin surface. It has mild side effects like swelling of the skin and redness over the treated area. However, these symptoms will eradicate within a couple of days.

  • Microneedling

An affordable alternative to the laser treatment will be the micro-needling. It is done with a vibrator that has minute sterile needles attached at the bottom.

20 minutes prior to microneedling a numbing cream is applied to numb your skin to the micro piercings. This treatment also has a mild side effect of redness around the treated area for 2 to 3 days.

  • Superficial fillers

People who require immediate treatment can go for superficial fillers. New fillers are introduced to the skin where the skin gets a uniform texture almost spontaneously.

No doubt that laser treatment cures acne rapidly while compared to the other natural solutions. However, this treatment has its own pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Laser treatment does not involve any blood. So if you are someone who is afraid of blood then laser treatment is the best for you.
  • You can see rapid results
  • Make your skin look natural with even skin tone.

Cons:

  • Laser treatment does not work well with darker skin tones. So the darker the skin is the harder it is to reap the results.
  • In the same way, laser treatment is less effective on sensitive skin. The more sensitive the skin is the lesser effective the treatment is.
  • Note that laser treatment cures acne and acne scars but not completely. If you want to get the scars removed totally then you would have to take more than one sitting or session.
  • Only a person who can take proper care of their skin can maintain the laser treatment results.

Therefore, laser treatment can be useful to treat your acne scars. But remember to be very cautious before choosing any type of laser treatment. Consult a dermatologist and analyze your skin type to understand whether it is suitable to undergo laser treatment.
