Electric Scooter vs Petrol Scooter: Which Should You Go For?

We live at a time where people are exploring faster and easier ways to travel. But while cars are still the top choice for long rides, they do not make a great option when it comes to traveling through the crowded streets of the city. In such settings, what you need is a vehicle that is small enough to dodge traffic jams and access narrow spaces.

If you are looking for a practical mode of transport in the city, you have two options: the electric scooter and the petrol scooter. Both scooters come with certain benefits but there are certain things you need to consider before you decide which of them can give better value for your money. Let’s put them head-to-head so you can decide which one is better for you:

Range

If there is one advantage to using a petrol scooter, it’s that you can easily refuel it when you run out of petrol. If you stop in the middle of your ride, all you need to do is load it up and you can hit the road again. Since electric scooters run on rechargeable batteries, you may need to wait for a few more hours before you can hit the road again when your batteries run out. The good news, however, is that there are long-range e-scooters that can travel up to 60 km on a single charge. If you only travel short distances, such e-scooters will do.

Power

One major advantage of an electric scooter over a petrol scooter is that it does not need fuel to run. With a petrol scooter, you need to refuel your vehicle regularly. That is stressful in many ways, since you have no choice but to wait in long queues just to have your scooter refueled. With fuel prices skyrocketing, it’s also financially straining. Imagine having to burn a hole in your pocket each time you need to refuel! Meanwhile, an electric scooter is very cheap to use because it only runs on rechargeable batteries. While it takes about 6 hours to charge an e-scooter’s battery, that is much better than having to spend time and again on fuel.

Maintenance

Compared to petrol scooters, electric scooters have a more straightforward design so they are easier to maintain. As opposed to their petrol counterparts, electric scooters are also cheaper to maintain since they have less moving parts. That’s one of the best things about e-scooters—with their robust and durable build, they can stay in their best shape for many years without having to be serviced. That is not the case with a petrol scooter, which needs to be brought to the service center at least every quarter.

Features

As a commuter, you want your vehicle to have as many features as possible. This is because these features will not only help you navigate more easily, but they will also keep you safe on the road. Compared to petrol scooters, electric scooters are packed with valuable features you will surely enjoy. Depending on the model of scooter you choose, you can have a scooter with important indicators, sensors, and so much more. More premium electric scooters even have apps that let you control your e-ride using your phone! You won’t find any of these features in petrol scooters. Powering up

When it comes to starting the scooter, you will find an e-scooter more advantageous than a petrol scooter. Depending on the model you choose, you need to either kickstart or drag the choke of your petrol scooter to get it started. If you’re not lucky, you may have to do that again and again for several minutes before you start your vehicle. That is something you won’t have to deal with when you use an e-scooter. With this motorized vehicle, all you have to do is to switch on a button and you are ready to go.

Eco-friendliness

Nowadays, going green is not only an option but an obligation. With air pollution worsening and our Earth’s atmosphere deteriorating, every little thing we do to curb pollution matters. And when it comes to reducing pollution, electric scooters are the real winners. Since these vehicles do not use fuel, they do not result in emissions that harm the environment. They also help reduce noise pollution since they are very quiet to use! Meanwhile, petrol scooters run on fuel so they have emissions. They are also quite noisy on the road especially when running at top speeds, so they don’t really make a great choice if you are looking for an eco-friendly option for your daily commute.
