Wasps are not very loved by humans, as they can be both dangerous and annoying. When threatened, they can sting you badly enough to traumatize you. Moreover, unlike bees, wasps can repeatedly sting without experiencing any consequences on their health. Therefore, they can cause serious harm to you.

This is why it is so important to learn where wasps generally hide. When you are easily able to locate them in your house, you can stay safe from them. If you suspect an infestation, you should not waste time and call the local wasp control services as soon as possible. When it comes to your family’s safety, you must not take any risks.

Common hiding places for wasps

  • Trees.

Some wasps like to build their nests in greenery, such as trees, shrubs, and bushes. These nests are quite difficult to spot. They look like gray-colored footballs. Green leaves and shrubs provide them with the protection they require around their nest. When the leaves start to grow, and the shrubs thicken, these nests are easier to hide. It is advised to move carefully around shrubbery.

  • Under the ground.

Yes, wasps do create their nests under the ground. These nests are extremely challenging to spot if you do not keep up with insect activity in your house. You can find the bumps of the nests sticking about the surface of the ground. You may also find some wasps hovering over it.

When you cannot find the nest, just spot a few wasps and follow their trail. They should lead you to their nest. By the summer or spring, you should be able to recognize their nests very easily. Wasps set out to find food early in the morning and return late at night. So, try to catch them during those times.

  • Walls, siding, and hanging on the roof.

Many wasps tend to adapt to the human environment and urbanization. This makes them want to build their nest inside people’s houses rather than in the lawns. Wasps are small bugs and can easily get inside your house even if there is a little hole in the wall or window.

You may be able to find wasps in the cracks or sidings of the walls. Old buildings with more wear and tear make them an ideal place for building their nest.

  • Barbeques and grills.

People love spending time with their family during the summers by arranging barbeque plans in the backyard. However, these plans can end in a minute if you do not keep a regular check on your BBQ equipment. Barbeques and grills are full of nooks and crannies. They are the perfect spot for wasps to build their nests as they protect from weather-related calamities and natural predators.
