In simple Baker’s Cyst is knee pain and stiffness behind the knee. The patient suffering from Baker’s cyst or popliteal cyst is unable to flex the leg. In the 18th century, doctor William Morrant Baker described it.

Many home remedies and clinical examinations are potent in the treatment of Baker’s Cyst. If you are suffering from Baker’s Cyst’s severe pain, do not wait further and visit https://www.msinsight.dk  here the expert will treat it effectively.

What Is Baker’s Cyst?

It is a swelling behind the knee, which causes stiffness of the joint. Due to stiffness and fluid in the space, it causes severe pain. The patient cannot move and bent the leg freely. Sometimes it is due to Arthritis.

Space behind the knee is filled with fluid and swell. It is more common among women. Sometimes the patients can experience calf pain and joint locking.

Symptoms of Baker’s Cyst:

Most people do not notice that they are suffering from Baker’s cyst. However, many others feel pain, stiffness, clicking, and creaking of the knee joint.

Some common symptoms include:

  • Calf pain
  • Knee pain
  • Agglomeration of fluid
  • Joint Locking
  • Balloon-filled with water or swelling
  • Stiffness
  • Inability to flex the leg
  • Calf redness

What Are the Causes of Baker’s Cyst?

The knee joint or any other joint moves with the help of lubricating fluid produced by synovial joints. The synovial fluid reduces the friction of the tendons, ligament, and bones. There is a valve-like system in the popliteal bursa of the knee which controls the fluid.

If there is extra production of synovial fluid, it accumulates and causes Baker’s Cyst. Some other common causes of popliteal cysts are:

Gout:

One of the primary causes of joint stiffness is the accumulation of Uric acid. The uric acid aggregate and cause stiffness of joints.

Haemophilia:

It is a heredity disease. In haemophilia, the blood cannot clot properly, and the internal bleeding damages the joints. The most affected joint is the knee joint.

Lupus:

An autoimmune disorder leads to severe joints problems. Women over 40 years suffer from joint pain and stiffness. When the immune system does not function properly, it damages other healthy tissues.

Osteoarthritis:

In this condition, the cartilage breakdown and causes swelling of the joint. The loss and breakdown of cartilage produce other disorders.

How to Treat Baker’s Cyst?

Several home remedies are quite useful in the treatment of Baker’s cyst. At the same time, many people prefer proper medication for quick and efficient results.

Icepacks:

The icepacks can reduce the swelling of the knee joint to lower down the pain. Remember that do not apply icepacks directly.

Rest:

Due to frequent walking and running, knee joints become hard. To reduce the irritation and swelling of the joint take rest without using any medicine.

Medications:

There is numerous medication available in the market that can reduce the pain, stiffness, and irritation due to swelling. You can use Non-steroidal drugs for the cure for knee pain.

Corticosteroid Injections:

Though it is not quite adequate in Baker’s Cyst’s recurrence, it can reduce inflammation and pain.
