Why Do You Need Trucker Gloves and What to Look For?

Are you suffering from the constant pain of having your hands torn apart by the metal and plastic on a truck?

Are you sick and tired of chemical fumes and wasted time trying to keep up with eye protection, weight limitations, and flame retardant clothing?

Want relief from those problems? Then it would help if you had truck driver gloves. Why should you use a pair of gloves while driving your big rig?

Keeping Your Hands Warm

The demand for driving gloves is primarily driven by the growing popularity of motorsports among millennials and rising government initiatives for road safety.

It may not be an issue for those living in colder regions, especially during winter. But for those who drive through states with milder weather conditions, it might prove to be too chilly without them.

Avoiding Slippery Surfaces

Slippery surfaces will make the road harder to control, especially if it rains or snows, which can give you more of a challenge while driving. Without gloves, handling your lorry may become complicated since you’ll be trying to handle slick surfaces with nothing to grip onto with your bare hands.

Enhancing Grip

You can also expect the same benefits as having the right equipment for your sport. A good grip can help you steer better, slow down or speed up more easily, and even improve your acceleration time.

You will have more control over what’s happening inside your vehicle, which will lead to safer driving.

Saving Your Manhood

Believe it or not, having a pair of trucker gloves can save your manhood from being crushed by the steering wheel. If you’re a beginner, you must spend a few minutes researching online about this.

Protecting Your Hands from the Elements

Aside from protecting your hands from chemicals, you can also expect trucker driver gloves to be resistant against weather conditions such as rain and snow.

Just like with regular driving lessons, you should learn to drive in an open area, so there’s more room for maneuvering.

Keeping the Sun Off Your Skin

Exposing skin to the sun can cause it to become dry, flaky, and even wrinkled.

That’s why you need a pair of UV-resistant gloves like those made out of leather or synthetic materials (usually used for kayaking).

Avoiding Injuries

More often than not, drivers will get into accidents that the truck isn’t to blame. In these instances, all that momentum from your speeding vehicle can cause you to hit objects or other people harder and more often than you’d expect.

A good pair of gloves might make the difference between a broken hand or wrist and a clean bill of health.

Avoiding Insects

Have you ever seen big rigs driving around with bug splatters all over the windshield? If you’re still new to this, then that might be because you’ve got nothing between your face and the bugs trying to get inside your truck.

It can also happen while resting in the sleeper cab, so you always need to be prepared.

What to Expect in a Pair of Gloves?

  1. Purchase them at least one size larger than what you usually wear. Since they’ll stretch out over time and with use, leaving room for deformation (especially if they’re leather) is essential. It will also help with air ventilation which can help keep your hands cool and dry.
  2. If you’re the type of trucker who works with his bare hands, then you should invest in a pair made out of sturdy materials such as leather or specific synthetic variants. These are designed to protect against abrasion and will keep your hands safe against jagged or sharp objects.
  3. If you’re working in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold), then you should get a pair made out of natural fibers. It includes cotton, wool, fleece, linen, and silk.

Most synthetic materials don’t insulate well when subjected to hot temperatures, while many natural fibers are breathable and keep your hands cool enough to avoid sweating too much.
