It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the best comedy shows ever made. And now that it’s been officially renewed for four more seasons, you’re probably itching to just re-watch the whole series in anticipation for the release of the 15th season.
But where can you do that in the US?

After reading some articles and doing numerous Google searches, we found out you can watch this show on Hulu if you get the FX on Hulu add-on.
The good news is that FX on Hulu is part of the Hulu subscription plan. So when you buy one, you automatically get access to FX on Hulu.
It seems you can also watch this TV series on Amazon Prime Video. It has all seasons, but we can’t say for sure if this title is included in the Amazon Prime Video membership. If it isn’t, it’s quite the bummer since you’ll have to pay for each episode or season that you watch (on top of the membership fee).
Can’t You Watch This Show on Netflix in the US?
Unfortunately, no, you can’t. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is available on Netflix, but not in the US. If you want to find out where, just click here. The link will take you to StreamCatcher’s IASIP page. That’s an online tool that checks the global Netflix library, and tells you where certain titles are available.
In this case, it seems that you can only watch this TV series in the UK.
We did our own tests to confirm if that’s true, and it is. We also checked other geo-locations with VPNs, and asked readers from different countries to tell us if this show is available on their country’s Netflix library. So far, it really seems that you can only stream this title in the UK.
Why Isn’t It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Available on Netflix in the US?
Well, because Netflix wasn’t able to secure licensing rights for this show in the US. They don’t own it, so they need to license it first. If they try to stream it without getting licensing rights, they could get sued.
Why couldn’t Netflix do that?
It’s hard to say, but it’s most likely because its competitors (Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, in this case) already own the rights.
Netflix could try to buy them in the future, but they’ll have to wait for them to expire first, which might take a while. Until that happens, they’ll have to continue geo-blocking It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on their US library.
How Do You Unblock This Show on Netflix in the US?
The best way to do it is to use a VPN – a capable unblocker that hides your IP from Netflix, ensuring it can’t see that you’re connecting to its site from the US.
Without knowing that, Netflix won’t be able to geo-block your access to this awesome TV series anymore.

- PrivateVPN – An all-around great provider: fast speeds, intuitive apps, up to six simultaneous connections, and free dedicated IPs if you use a specific connection (Netflix is less likely to detect the VPN that way).
- CyberGhost VPN – This VPN supports up to seven parallel connections, has apps for all operating systems, offers decent speeds, and has a dedicated streaming server that’s optimized for Netflix UK (it refreshes its IPs more often to avoid detection).
Can You Unblock This TV Series on Netflix with a Free VPN?
You can try, but it probably won’t work. Free VPNs usually don’t refresh their IPs very often, so Netflix detects them pretty fast. What that means for you is that you’ll see the Netflix proxy error instead of being able to watch the next episode of this show.
What’s more, you’ll have to deal with lower speeds (due to servers being overcrowded) and bandwidth caps (you’ll always have to check your data usage between episodes).
And don’t even think about using a random free VPN you find on the app store! Besides offering a poor experience, it could also expose you to annoying ads and malware.
