British historical fiction television series The Last Kingdom has been renewed by Netflix for its fourth season. The announcement was made on the 26th of December 2018 on The Last Kingdom’s official twitter page.
And the Last Kingdom is based on the historical novel series The Saxon Stories, written by Bernand Cornwell with the stories recounting the history of Anglo-Saxon England during the ninth and tenth centuries. The stories follow the son of a Saxon lord who has been captured and adopted by the Danes.
Also, the first season consisting of eight episodes aired on BBC America and BBC Two on the 10th October 2015 and was met with generally great reviews. Netflix co-produced the second season with BBC Two before becoming the sole producer of season three.
Season 4 Release Date
The first three seasons cover the first six of the twelve books (with another book being announced). And the fourth season has been announced and will be available on Netflix on 26th April 2020.
Major Cast
German-born actor Alexander Dreymon portrays Uhtred of Bebbanburg, the protagonist and the narrator of the novel series, which began being published in 2004.
David Dawson plays the legendary Anglo-Saxon king Alfred The Great and Tobias Santelmann plays Ragnar The Younger, who adopts Uhtred, and the two form a complex character dynamic that is one of the highlights of the show. Besides, Mark Rowley plays the role of Finan. On the other hand, Sihtric character will be played by Arnas Fedaravicius.
