Today we are going to see some keys to wear one of the garments that set the trend this season: the Jumpsuit. From my point of view, it is a bit complicated that this garment fits well. If you are a long-line person, that is, without too many curves and with long limbs, you will have no problem choosing the one you like the most. On the contrary, if you are like me, a person with curves must take some things into account because a sexy jumpsuit can add volume where we do not want it or make us look short-legged. So today we are going to see some guidelines to keep in mind when trying on this garment:
Let’s go in parts!
The color and patterns:
When choosing your garment, you can check if the color is within your color palette and is one that suits you well combined with your natural colors. The darker the color, the more it stylizes your figure. The word “dark” does not mean that you can only use black since forest greens, garnet reds, purples, electric blues, etc. will also produce that effect to a greater or lesser extent.
As it is all one piece, it makes a vertical line appear in a single color, stylizing the silhouette. But be careful that most have no shape and if your silhouette has it … bad combination! As for the pattern, it should be according to your style and tastes, of course, but also with your silhouette. If you are a size S, the pattern should be small and as the size is larger, the pattern drawing should be enlarged. Now, the more compact it is, the more it will produce that vertical effect and the more it will stylize us.
Upper area:
This area should be according to our style and tastes but if we want it to look great it should also adapt to our upper area of the silhouette. If your jumpsuit has sleeves, the ones that favor the most will be the French sleeves but they can all look good as long as they fit the arm loosely. In any case, if you have problems with your arm (no matter how thick or thin) it is best to try it on and see if you like it. If your jumpsuit has straps, they should be wider the wider your shoulders are. The most flattering necklines are: the V-shaped finishes to define the waist and shoulders, the sweetheart necklines that define our waist and lift the chest, and the oval necklines that give us slenderness and softness to the whole. As a consideration, you can choose one of these corset tops, that really suits your upper area.
Central zone:
The problem I see is that the jumpsuit, most of the time, does not have a defined waist and also the beginning of the pants tends to stay quite out of place. So if you are a curvy person like me will not like the effect very much. If you have curves and a defined waist, you should look for a jumpsuit that also has it. The smooth and shapeless will not adapt to the silhouette and will throw you in some areas and in others they will produce unsightly bags. If you have a defined waist, a belt placed at the appropriate height can do a lot for that garment that you just didn’t see on. If you are a person without a defined waist and without curves, this point will not matter much to you because most of the jumpsuits are straight and shapeless so you will give it to them with your silhouette.
Lower zone:
Everything that is darts, gathers and pockets will add volume so you will take it into account when trying it on. See where everything is placed and see if it adapts to the shape of your silhouette or deforms it, it is important. Then you can choose between long or short pants, to choose one or the other you have to be guided by your tastes, occasion and style.
Long pants:
The longer pants the wider they are, the shorter we will see each other. Tight pants to the leg will make us have the effect of having a wider hips. A leg that falls straight with a fabric with good fall will stylize us and give us height. The length of the leg: fisherman, pirate or capri will also change the length of the legs. Of course, make sure that it always ends up in a narrow area of the leg so that it does not deform it.
Shorts:
In this case, we must counteract the horizontal line effect, especially if we are concerned about seeing ourselves shorter and / or the thickness of our legs. For short silhouettes, the ideal is for the pants to be very short (which is not difficult because they are super fashionable) and to wear high-heeled shoes in skin or nude tones. This will give us a vertical effect that will give us slenderness.
If you are concerned about the thickness of your legs, make sure that the pants do not end in a wide area of the leg (mid-thigh), that they have a good fall and that they do not stick to the leg. All this will make it adapt more to your silhouette and will not produce added volumes.
I hope that I have clarified any questions regarding how to choose your jumpsuit for this Summer.
