Although dryers are meant to dry your clothes, they are not always perfect. As years pass by, these machines age, and their effectiveness is reduced. They become slower in their job, and clothes come out with dampness. Besides aging, the other factor contributing to damp clothes is dirt in the dryer vent which can only be eliminated through dryer vent cleaning.

Staying with a dirty dryer vent can cause more fatal fires because the lint is highly flammable. When the dryer is not working correctly, its mechanical parts overheat. A combination of heat and flammable lint can lead to domestic fires. Carrying out dryer vent cleaning is important, and it does not require an expert dryer vent cleaning near me to do so. If you have the skills, check out this procedure. However, if you don’t have vent skills, contact an expert to clean it.

1. Locate The Source Of Power And Turn It Off

Dryers are run by different power types. Some run on electricity while others use gas to dry clothes. If your dryer runs on electricity, switch off the main switch to disconnect the power. Otherwise, if the machine uses gas, turn off the main supply valve. Turning off the power protects you, your house, and the device from fire accidents.

2. Find The Vent

You first need to locate the vent to be able to clean it. The 4-inch diameter exhaust pipe is connected to the machine, and it exits through an outside wall. The pipe’s endpoint allows hot air outside and cold air in. Debris and dust get trapped in the pipe, and they block the exit of the hot air, another reason for overheating.

3. Disconnect The Dryer

To do dryer vent cleaning effortlessly, you should disconnect the dryer from the duct and any other connected pipes. Also, remove all the metal tapes that hold the vent pipe towards the outside. Be gentle on the duct to avoid breaking it.

4. Clean The Lint

Use a vacuum cleaner to suck all the lint from the duct. Repeat this until the vent is clean. You can use a brush with smooth bristles to loosen up any lint stuck in the commercial dryer vent. Using a brush with stiff bristles can tear the pipe, which is expensive to replace. Once all lint is loose, brush it outside gently and vacuum to remove it from the duct altogether.

5. Clean The Room

To ensure the machine and the duct remains clean, clean the laundry room. Remove all the dust and debris that might make their way back into the machine. You should also clean the removable parts of the device.

6. Return Everything In Position

Once everything is clean and dry, return them in position. However, ensure you dispose of all the lint before returning the dryer. Plug it into the power source and taste how it is working with a few clothes and if there is an improvement.
