Introduction

Whether you are the owner or a tenant, your security and that of loved ones should be a top priority. Only relocate to a house where your safety is not at risk. Remember, healthy is wealthy, and you cannot be well when your security is at stake. Therefore, ascertain you feel safe and comfortable before occupying your property.

However, you will only achieve comfort and safety if you employ the best security for the apartment. To achieve this, design the best ways to protect your residential property, such as putting surveillance cameras, having security guards, and others, to protect against house hazards like fire.

Studies show that in 2020 fires broke in more than 356,500 US homes leading to several damages that include the loss of 2,630 lives. Other house hazards that cause great agony to loved ones include; cuts, burns, falls, poisoning, choking, and many more.

Therefore, you should prioritize keeping your family safe. This article stipulates six ways to protect your residential property from hazards.

1.          Prevent Fire

When fire breaks and catches your house, it causes a lot of destruction. You can prevent fire damage by doing the following:

  • Install a 24-hour security camera to monitor all activities around and within the property. There are a lot of fires that result from external attacks. The cameras will help you monitor your property 24 hours ensuring no one tries to light a fire on your building.
  • Develop an apartment’s real-time surveillance to ensure security property management. The real-time surveillance ensures you are up-to-date on all the happenings within your property, meaning you will have information regarding fire outbreaks or possible causes on time.
  • Install fire alarms in all your rooms and keep track of their batteries to ensure efficiency. Also, make sure there is a smoke detector, such as Nest Protect, to provide real-time updates. Further, as the property owner, consider installing a network multifamily alarm to alert all your tenants in case of a fire.
  • Purchase fire extinguishers in your house, and always check to ensure they are working.
  • Avoid leaving candles unattended or keeping loose clothes like blankets near the point of use. Furthermore, keep them out of reach of children
  • Unplug unused appliances to prevent electrical fires while also avoiding overloading electrical outlets

2.          Get Rid of Poisoning

Studies show that around 300 children find themselves in an emergency room daily due to unintended poisoning due to the consumption of home maintenance and cleaning supplies. Do the following to prevent home poisoning hazards.

  • Ensure proper medication storage in your apartment building- ensure children can’t reach unused medications by disposing of them. You may use Eoere Medicine Box to store your medicines to ensure children cannot access them. In addition, install a home security camera to monitor the whereabouts of your children.
  • Store paint where children cannot access them
  • Safely keep all chemicals, for instance, in a raised locked cupboard to ensure children and pets can’t reach them. As the property owner, you should provide elevated closets in all buildings in your complex apartment where tenants can store those chemicals. These raised cupboards will be inaccessible to children protecting them from consuming the chemicals
  • Keep all personal care products such as soap, makeup, hair products, and others out of reach of children.
  • Lock the dishwasher and laundry detergents to ensure children and pets don’t access them

3.          Prevent House Falls

House falls are some of the home accidents that lead to death. You can prevent house falls by;

  • Keeping dry floors – ensure your house floors are dry to avoid slippery floors. Additionally, carpet your bathroom to eliminate wet services. In addition, consider having towels or mats on the floor to maintain dry services when getting out of the shower.
  • Ensure stable staircases by installing safety gates and solid handrails and providing enough lighting. Further, ensure the stairs are clear of materials that may lead to a fall
  • Also, prevent theft of staircases by employing security guards to take care of your property. You can also install multifamily residential live surveillance to monitor your compound. This surveillance will help unmask thieves that may invade your property and steal the staircases. Moreover, install security alarms for apartments to alert you and your security guards in case of intruders.
  • Buy a medical alert system that older people can use to alert a fall or emergency. Also, building wireless security cameras for apartment buildings will help monitor the old. You will know when they fall even before they alert you through the medical alert system.

4.          Avoid Cuts

Every house has several sharp objects that can cause injuries. Some of these injuries are accidental, while others are due to mishandling these objects. To avoid cuts in your house;

  • Properly store kitchen tools such as peelers, graters, and knives that can cause nasty cuts,
  • Point down folks and blades in the dishwasher,
  • Safely keep yard tools like saws, rakes, and others in a locked garage or sheds to ensure children can’t reach them. Position an apartment complex security camera to monitor all areas, including your garage. These cameras will help you identify any tool you may have misplaced or forgotten to enter into the shade.

5.          Prevent Burns

Stoves and dishwashers are the causes of burns in the house. You can prevent burns by doing the following;

  • Fasten the dishwasher – latch your dishwasher well to avoid easy opening by curious hands.
  • Put backburners on your stove to prevent children from accidentally touching the stove
  • Cover your stove with stove knobs to keep off children from turning burners on
  • Put Poe cameras in your kitchen to monitor children’s movement. The cameras will help you know when they are about to touch the stove or turn the burners on, hence acting fast to prevent them from so doing

6.      Prevent Choking

According to studies, choking claimed the lives of 3000 people in 2020, being among the leading causes of death in the US. Prevent choking by doing the following:

  • Keep an eye on children during playtime. Outsource security camera services to install CCTVs to check your children while they play. You can use baby monitors to monitor choking signs
  • Ensure your children can’t access hard foods that may chock them like nuts.

Bottom Line

Ensuring the safety of your significant others should be a top priority. To protect them, first, identify the house hazards that may endanger them. Doing so will help you know what measures to take to control these hazards.

For instance, for a multifamily residential, consider installing multifamily residential live security surveillance and multifamily residential live security camera monitoring to enhance security. These measures and those mentioned above will reduce theft of staircases hence preventing house falls.

Additionally, enemies may break into your house and poison your food which you or your loved ones may feed, unaware of the poison. You may avoid this by having a security camera monitoring to monitor the happenings within your house. These cameras will show you who broke into your room and what they did while inside.

Listed above are a few measures you can employ. All will solve your problems depending on what hazard you encounter
