There are many ways Christian worship. There is no right or wrong way, and as long as it is done unto the Lord, it is all correct. Worship can be conducted on a very personal or private level as well as with others. Below are a few examples of different types of worship that are commonly practiced.
Song
Worshiping through song is likely to be the most common form of worship. This can be done individually or as part of a congregation, such as while at Radiant Church. Sometimes, a song can be laid on a person’s heart, or it can be a well-rehearsed praise and worship team. Either way, as long as the heart’s stance is pure, the worship will be received by the Father. Worshiping through song does not mean that you have to sing. Listening to the music can also be worship through song. When the song turns a person’s mind and heart to the Father, then true worship is achieved.
Prayer
All Christians pray, but most do not understand it as a type of worship. Prayer can be given for many reasons beyond just requests. Prayers of thanksgiving are an excellent example of worship. Most prayer is done privately, but the Bible encourages believers to gather together for prayer. No matter if it is for intercession, confession, adoration, or praise, prayer is a direct link of worship between the believer and God. Not only that prayer is also one of the best ways to encourage and grow one’s faith.
Service to Others
The Lord has commanded us to be of service to one another. What most people do not realize is that this service is a form of worship. This type of service can be performed in many areas such as marriage and family, to the public, in the church. Serving your spouse in the marriage is giving glory to God. If the service is done out of manipulation, then that is not real service.
The same can be said of service inside the family unit. When service to the family is performed with a humble heart rather than frustration, it is a form of worship. Service in the church is an important act. It is not just an act that blesses people who care close to you but, instead, shows the community and world the Father’s love through this act of worship.
Submission
Sometimes the word submission makes people uncomfortable because they see it as turning over complete control. However, in the Bible, submission to the Lord is a high form of worship. Submitting your will to him shows that you trust him completely. The Bible also says for wives to submit to their husbands. This particular verse is hard for many wives and women in general. The verses about the husbands laying down his life and will for his wife are often not quoted but are still there and commanded. Submission in a marriage is also submission to God and, in turn, how the couple can worship.
We, as Christians, should worship daily, no matter how the worship is completed. Whether it be making a joyful noise unto the Lord or submitting to your spouse, it gives all the glory to God, and blessings will be returned.
