Nearly a third of all home renovation projects in 2020 were bathroom upgrades.
While you may not be planning to remodel your bathroom, even simple repairs can make a big difference. Let’s look at 6 bathroom repairs that will refresh your home.
-
Update the Decor in Your Bathroom
If it’s been more than a few years since the last time you changed the decor in your bathroom, it’s probably starting to look dated. Styles change so things like tile and paint get old fairly quickly.
You may not notice it yourself but there’s a good chance your guests will. Replacing those dated tiles, painting with a more stylish color, and adding some new decor items will make a big difference.

Dirty Grout and Caulking
Grout and caulking look clean and white when first done but it doesn’t take long for it to get dirty. Especially if it’s in the tub or shower area where there’s more moisture.
You don’t need to hire a residential plumbing service to replace it for you though. Just pick up a Clorox bleach pen, swipe it over the messy caulk or grout, and wipe it off with a damp rag after letting it sit for a few hours.
-
Not Enough Light
If your bathroom doesn’t get a lot of natural light through a window, it might be too dark and not very inviting for guests.
If you’ve got older light bulbs, replace them with LED bulbs in bright white or daylight hues. They’ll brighten the room without having to increase the wattage of the light fixtures.
-
Messy or Damaged Flooring
Bathroom floors can get messy quickly. Between the moisture from a shower or bathtub and all the traffic, it doesn’t take long for them to start looking worn. Replacing the flooring will make the bathroom look much better.
Choose a material that can stand up to the wear and tear in a bathroom, like vinyl flooring. It has the advantage of being easy to install and comes in many different colors and patterns.
-
Cloudy Shower Doors
Soap scum and water marks can make glass shower doors look cloudy. If the marks have been there a while, it can be tough to scrub them away.
Try using vinegar, baking soda, and salt to clean them up. Spray the vinegar on the door and create a paste with a 50/50 mix of baking soda and salt.
Wash and rinse the door with the paste but don’t use a stiff-bristle brush or you could damage the door.

Lack of Storage
If your bathroom suffers from a lack of storage, there are lots of creative ways to add more.
Place some decorative baskets on the counter to hold odds and ends. Get baskets with lids if you want it all to be completely out of sight.
Add shelves to store towels and other items. And maybe a shower organizer so you don’t have shampoo and other things sitting on the floor of the shower.
Simple Bathroom Repairs Can Make a World of Difference
None of these bathroom repairs cost a lot but they can make a huge difference in the look and feel of your bathroom.
