Most L&D professionals measure the progress of training by assessing the quantity over quality. It’s because quantity is easy to assess. When it comes to learning, it all boils down to how well you could apply the concepts to real-world problems. Not only in the corporate world but in general, people are fascinated by the number of degrees and certifications they have cleared rather than finding out whether they can apply those learnings practically or not.

E-Learning courses are not designed using the traditional education methods, they are designed to deliver practical knowledge in small chunks. The main purpose is to deliver practical knowledge that the employees can use in their job. But, how do you measure the effectiveness of this eLearning program that gives you the best results? To find out, keep reading the article.

1)Askpractical questions:

Scenario-based assessments are a great way to test your learners. Give them a practical scenario and ask them to solve that. This is a great way to assess the learner’s depth of knowledge of the particular concept. For instance, if your learner is an accountant, then create a practical scenario around that. “ An employee has gone on a paid vacation and you need to refund them, explain how you would do that”. In this way, you test the principles of accounting and their viewpoints and much more.

2)Employ case studies:

Case studies are a great way to test the practical knowledge of your learners. These are very popular qualitative assessments because they give you a real understanding of your learner’s knowledge. Choose a case study that your learners are unfamiliar with and invite them to solve the main problem. But, the main thing here is that you shouldn’t just look at the answer. Find out the approach they followed to arrive at the conclusion.

3)Make them teachers:

In schools and colleges, students are asked to do presentations in the class addressing all the other students. The same method can be implemented here as well. Just give your learners a topic and explain it to the co-learners in a professional meeting. This allows them to research a topic, do their analysis, and come out with their views on the topic. This helps your learners to prove themselves in front of their peers and the instructor. The other learners can ask questions so that it helps everyone to dig deep into the concept and arrive at the solutions.

4)Decision-making paths:

Branching scenarios are a great way to help your learners test their knowledge without making real-world mistakes. This is a great way to figure out how well your learners can comprehend the concepts and use them in real-life scenarios. If you find out that your learners lack problem-solving skills, then you should find out where they are lacking. Assess your eLearning program thoroughly and incorporate all the missing elements in it.

5)Quizzes:

Of all the assessments mentioned, quizzes are the easiest to do for your employees. It is also an excellent way to engage the learners as it is short and quick. Quizzes can be multiple choice questions or fill in the blanks. You can make each student’s quiz unique by randomizing the question orders and options. You can even conduct a non-graded online quiz before you start the lesson to find out the learner’s existing knowledge and then assess it with quiz results that you conduct later.

Conclusion:

To wrap up, an effective LMS with AICC software will leverage you not only to create an impressive and successful training course but will help you effectively in assessing the learners on various parameters, both qualitatively and quantitatively. We hope this article helps you to conduct effective qualitative eLearning assessments to measure learner’s progress.
