Rotary tattoo machines require much less handling than coil machines. Many require even no lubrication. It depends a lot on the shape of the tattoo machine. If the coil tattoo machines are structurally the same, the rotors have different types and therefore have different issues. Let us now figure out what we will set up and what problems to solve on our own.
Problems and solutions. Rotary tattoos machines
Replacing the eccentric on the turntable
The rotator is the simplest of rotary tattoo machines, which requires almost no intervention in the work. The operating principle depends on the voltage, and the needle stroke on the eccentric. It is not difficult to replace it. You will need a screwdriver and, of course, the eccentric itself. Remove one, screw the other.
Tattoo machine sprays the ink
Rotary tattoo machines are less stable than induction machines. One of the useful methods to reduce the oscillation of the tattoo machine needle is its bending. You need to bend the tattoo needle smoothly so that it forms an arc. Find out the position of the tattoo needle in the spout – it should be shifted to the lower wall of the tattoo machine.
The tattoo machine warms up
First, check if you work within the recommended range of voltages. If the tattoo machine does not heat up very much, test it while working. If you are comfortable with the sound and quality of your work, most likely everything is normal. If the tattoo machine warms up very badly, send it to the manufacturer for diagnostics.
The tattoo machine makes a lot of noise/troit
If the tattoo machine has started to make an unusual noise, it probably requires lubrication. You can find out all the information about proper lubrication from the instructions. Another possible cause is a problem with the mechanism. For example, some parts may have been erased or loose, or the bearings may have been damaged. This case requires diagnosis and intervention by the manufacturer.
Departure (rows) setting on the tattoo of cartridges
Everything here is absolutely simple. You will need an adjustable holder. The rotation adjusts the tattoo needle release for different types of work.
What are the problems to contact the manufacturer?
Parts replacement, motor replacement, lock, and body parts replacement are all better left to the manufacturers of your tool. Your task is to take good care of it and follow all recommendations.
Tattoo machine assembly instructions
- Let us start by taking care of sterility and prepare for the assembly of the machine with clean hands and disposable gloves.
- Insert the back tube and the tip into the holder, making sure that they are tightly fixed – to avoid strong vibrations. Carefully remove the tattoo needle from the package and lower it into the assembled holder. Make sure that the needle tips are not damaged.
- Attach the nipple to the stem of the striker tattoo machine. Do not forget that the nipples and rubber bands wear out quickly, so always order them with a reserve. Insert the holder into the special tattoo hole of the machine. We attach the needle to the nipple and fix it with a tensioning screw. We do not tighten it too much to adjust the correct needle release without problems.
- Adjust the flight and tighten the screw tightly. Make sure that the tip of the needle does not protrude from the tip. We fix the bar of the needle with a bandage rubber – put it on the machine body to stabilize fluctuations during the process.
- Install the power supply at your workplace, connect the wire, and plug it into the network. Both connectors shall be connected: one to the clipboard, the other to the pedal. The clip-cord will supply the tattoo machine with the current.
- Put a disposable package on the clip-cord. You don’t need to pull the plug out of the package completely – we just pierce the protection with the contacts. We fix the connector with a bandage rubber or adhesive tape. Connect the clip-cord to the tattoo machine. We press the pedal and check that everything is done correctly – the machine should work. We set up the voltage, the needle flight, and start to work boldly.
