Have you ever walked into a shop after looking at the window displays? That is how effective visual marketing can be when done properly. Visual merchandising displays are created to attract potential customers into the shop.

Visual Merchandising makes the first impression on your customer and makes them curious to visit your store. The impact of visual merchandising is not just limited to window displays but also the store’s interior. You can use retail display solutions to optimize and enhance your retail space to make it look more attractive to your patrons. 

This includes the storefront, floor plan, signage, billing counter, and product racks. Well-thought-out retail displays work seamlessly to engage the customer, increase sales, and create a positive brand image in their mind.

You can use a combination of visual merchandising display techniques to bring the customer to your shop and increase product awareness.

a) Customized Display for Attract Target Audience

A customer does not directly think of purchasing an item. There are several steps involved before making the final decision. First, the customer will have to discover the suitable product options they are looking for. After that, they compare the options at hand and then make the purchase.

Proper visual merchandising can help you get the customer and convert this lead into a sale. The important thing here is how you design your shop signage and other display items. Try to create customized displays that will appeal to the lifestyle of your target customers. It will convince them they will get precisely what they are looking for in your shop.

b) Pick a Colour Palette

Juggling between too many colors not only creates confusion but also shows inconsistency. A uniform color pallet will help you create a much more unique visual experience and help draw attention to some specific elements in the shop. 

Picking your brand colors is the first step to creating a beautiful visual display. Typically people work with three or four colors to create harmonious visual display signages.

Ensure that the colors you pick and in tandem with your brand colors. You can also use the brand colors to make the retail displays rather than going for new shades. For example, if you have a pet shop and want to give off a cute, family-friendly vibe, try to stick to greens and earthy tones to induce a sense of comfort and nature.

c) Do Not Go Overboard

Sometimes, simplicity is the best way to capture attention. Including too many elements can be visually overwhelming sometimes. Using too many colors and objects together can look like a toddler’s coloring sheet instead of a beautiful storefront.

It is chaotic and overwhelming and has the exact opposite effect on the customers, making them walk away. So, sometimes it is best to embrace the “Less is More” mantra and create displays and signage that use a uniform color pallet and theme.

d) Tell a Story

Coming up with a storyboard for your visual merchandising display makes it easier for the customer to understand your brand philosophy and products. The visual merchandising items created based on the story can be limited to just the window display. You can also place them throughout the store, creating a cohesive theme that guides customers from one aisle to the other.

Make sure that the story you are trying to tell is simple and easy to follow, like “back to school” or “spring break”. Use a set of colors and signages to create a cohesive theme.

e) Be Specific

Your displays may show the product pretty well. But if the signage is too complex or wordy, it is a failure. Complicated and lengthy signage means the customer will have difficulty processing the information and might not understand it.

Try to create signs using the five-second rule. It is good to go if you can read and understand the signage within 5 seconds or less. Create a series of visual merchandising displays if you need to deliver a message that would need longer than five seconds to process.

Retail display solutions are a powerful tool for brick and motor companies to bring in customers. Visual merchandising is not just setting up your store in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Hopefully, the techniques mentioned in the article will help you create a storefront that is not only beautiful but also reflects what the brand stands for.
