It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The time when you get to dress up like your favorite characters from Star Wars, have lightsaber fights with your friends, and in general act like a child again. We did the hard work for you by putting together a list of the best star wars costumes for kids!
Jedi
To become a Jedi, you’ll need to start by wearing the appropriate attire. You can find everything you need at your local craft store or Walmart. To create your Jedi robe and hood, all you need is 1 yard of thick fabric in the color of your choice that matches with the rest of your outfit. Cut out a large rectangular shape from this fabric and sew it together so that it forms one large piece. Then cut two small rectangles from another piece of cloth in any color and attach them to either side of your robe to form sleeves for yourself. Next, cut out a long strip of cloth that can serve as a belt around your waist; this will help keep everything together while also giving off an air of authority (or alternatively, if you don’t have enough material available on hand right now then simply tie some rope around yourself instead). Finally, sew four strips together into two separate circles each approximately 6 inches in diameter; these will be used later on when constructing Darth Vader’s mask!
Yoda
Yoda is a Jedi master, and his appearance reflects that. Yoda is small and green, but his ears are long and pointy. He has a long, thin mustache and eyebrows to match.
Chewbacca
If you’re looking for an easy and inexpensive costume, Chewbacca is the one for you. While he’s not exactly the first character that comes to mind when you think of Star Wars, this Wookiee has a lot of loyal fans.
Chewbacca is a large, furry anthropomorphic bipedal creature who stands at eight feet tall. He was born on Kashyyyk and worked as a navigator on several spacecraft throughout his life before becoming close friends with Han Solo and joining the Rebel Alliance during its fight against Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire.
BB-8
You can make a BB-8 costume out of a cardboard box and a styrofoam ball. Paint the ball with black paint, then attach a small motor to it using some wires. Next, attach a small light to the top of the ball for its head. Use your remote control to make it roll around like BB-8 does in the movie!
R2D2
R2-D2 is a droid that appears in the Star Wars franchise as a major character. R2-D2 is an astromech droid, meaning he was designed to be able to take care of the starship’s systems and repairs. His name comes from the fact that he looks like an “R squared” shape when viewed from above.
The best part about dressing up as this lovable android? You don’t have to worry about making any time-consuming costumes—you can simply wear your own clothes and add on some fun accessories!
If a simple Jedi costume or BB-8 isn’t for you, then maybe consider the more complicated Chewbacca costume. If you’re looking for something more feminine, perhaps Leia would be an option.
